Ubuntu 6.10 (Edgy Eft) Release Candidate Announced

Edgy Eft RC1 was released today ..

i tried to update my dapper system to edgy through the update distro method ..
it gave me a weired error about not enough space …
and when i tried to update through APT i found that it will download about 750 MB so i’ll download the whole CD instead of upgrading.
the final release is expected to come at October 26th.

Upgrade information for users of Ubuntu and Edubuntu 6.06 LTS

  • NOTE: This procedure upgrades your system over the Internet, which requires a large download of several hundred megabytes.

  • Because this is the Release Candidate, you need to
    invoke the update manager explicitly. To do this, press Alt-F2 (or open
    a Terminal using Applications -> Accessories ->Terminal)

      gksudo "update-manager -c -d"<br />
  • This step will not be necessary on the final release.

  • Make sure you are up to date – click the “Check” button. If you
    are connected to the network, Update Manager should now tell you about
    the 6.10 (“Edgy Eft”) release

  1. I have used the beta for a few days and have had little problems with it. But when I just installed this Ubuntu Edgy release candidate much of my system started acting funny and I have had some various problems with most of my software. Too bad… Well, I will be switching back to Dapper and will be using the backports…
